lol I’ve lost faith in spideypool and every time “baby boy” pops up in a fic I stare at the screen, eyes glazed, done. jesus christ, deadpool said that once and never again maybe for a good reason. there’s too much bad to overweigh the good and I’ve tried to push for a more realistic and non-problematic relationship between these two but I’m too tired to care anymore.

I mean I understand where you are coming from but it’s like a canon nickname Wade gave Peter so I can see how fic writers may like to fall back on something from the source material. I do agree it’s overused but it doesn’t bug me if it’s used sparingly in fics along with some other original nicknames

No. I understand what you’re saying, but “Baby Boy” seems like such a derogatory and overly sexual term and to hone in on one name just because it was canon for one panel doesn’t mean you can’t explore other funnier or just-as-cringey nicknames. Although “Petey-pie” is really, really unoriginal lol.

Honestly that nickname is really low on the list of spideypool things that annoy me. I think the biggest sin is when Peter is made very submissive or a blushing shy nerd when he is actually a smartass who loves banter. I’ll look past a nickname but I can’t stand their personalities being thrown in the trash

I totally agree with you. For Pete’s sake, the dude puns with no regret in front of a steroid rhino. Yeah, I get the whole alter ego thing, but that doesn’t mean Peter’s a complete 180 from Spider-Man. The only difference between them is one thin layer of spandex. The same thing goes with Wade, too. People often forget he has killed a lot of people and is definitely not a saint that comes to Peter’s rescue.
