to clarify:
1. people who say that tony stark means nothing to mcu peter are wrong. i love aunt may and uncle ben and can’t stand them being erased, but I’m not gonna act like tony means nothing to peter. their initial relationship in the mcu was that of a mentor and a protege, but it has definitely evolved into that of a father and son. the mcu has clearly set up peter and tony to kind of develop a father and son bond. may and ben are basically peter’s mom and dad, and ben dying doesn’t diminish his role as the main person peter views as a dad. and tony stark taking kind of a fatherly role to peter DEFINITELY shouldn’t lessen just how much peter loves may. may and ben are the main parental roles in peter’s life, but people who are worried about may and ben erasure still shouldn’t try to act like tony hasn’t taken a fatherly role to peter, or that peter doesn’t love tony bc he obviously does. erasing that is silly.
2. going off that, people who are so obsessed with the idea of tony taking a fatherly role to peter shouldn’t then act like aunt may and uncle ben don’t matter. I’ve seen people say that uncle ben meant nothing to peter, that he probably doesn’t even exist in the mcu. which is just ignorant, uncle ben is so intergral to peter parker’s storyline that if you think peter doesn’t care about him/he doesn’t exist then no offense but you really shouldn’t even pretend to know anything about peter parker. same with may, peter views may as a mother, he would and has died for her. yet I’ve seen some tony stark stans try to erase that. some saying that peter probably doesn’t love may, some making headcanons that she abused peter, some even hoping that may is killed so tony can adopt peter. it’s so gross seeing as may parker is a very inspiring character who is basically a single mother, and also again very ignorant to the spiderman storyline. peter’s pure love and adoration of uncle ben and aunt may are basic spidey knowledge. you don’t need to erase their characters and impact just to prop up mcu tony stark acting like a dad.
3. as someone who lost my dad when i was 10, I have had other father figures since his passing. I loved them in a way different than I loved my dad, but not any lesser than how I loved him. My dad held, and will always hold a special place in my heart, and my love for my father was unique and when someone you love dies they don’t just stop mattering to you. But my love for the other father figures I found was just as genuine, it was just unique to them as well. And my love for them never diminished the love or esteem I held for my dad!! As for the love for my mom, it never wavered!! That’s my mom!! Why would the new father figures in my life have an impact on just how much I love my mom!! I would be so disgusted if someone told me that my dad stopped mattering after he died, or that my love for my other father figures invalidated my love for my mom and dad, or likewise if I was told that my love for my mom and dad meant that the other father figures I’ve found meant nothing.
my point is that both sides of the discourse here are stupid and annoying, a person can have many parental figures and love them all without the love of one having to diminish the love of another. I swear some of you guys are just stupid and have never loved anything or anyone, or even interacted with another human being in your lives. mcu peter parker has THREE parental figures, and his bond to each of them is unique but still valid.
